German hire firm buys seven Grove cranes

9 Feb 17 German hire firm MSG Krandienst has added seven new Grove all-terrain cranes to its fleet.

It has taken delivery of the first six of the cranes—four GMK3060s and two GMK4080-1s—from Manitowoc’s Wilhelmshaven plant. In April, the company will receive the seventh, a Grove GMK5150L.

The GMK5150L, which debuted at Bauma 2016, is one of Grove’s newest models and has a load capacity of 150t and a 60m boom. It is designed for ease of transport, with its total width of 2.75m allowing for easy manoeuvring on sites. It carries 44.5t of counterweight, and in its taxi configuration, the crane carries 10.2t of counterweight.

“The compact dimensions and the counterweight flexibility of the GMK5150L convinced us that it would be an ideal crane for our needs,” said Alfred Jatz, managing director at the company. "The crane complements our broad range of services and helps us to provide our customers with tailor-made solutions that fit their needs."

MSG Krandienst is a long-standing customer of Manitowoc and purchased the new batch of cranes from Manitowoc dealer KranAgentur Werner.
