The new office – its second in Australia - will support the existing operation in Brisbane and follows a string of local appointments.

Recent schemes in the area include numerous five and six star hotels, multiple projects with Griffith University, several residential towers totalling more than AU$1bn (£625m)in value and a range of projects on behalf of the Gold Coast City Council.

Andy King, director of Gleeds Australia, said: “The general economy, whilst not as buoyant as in previous years, is still moving forward and as our recent appointments have illustrated, opening an office to support our clients is an exciting and necessary move at this time.”

Richard Steer, chairman of Gleeds Worldwide added: “Our Asia Pacific business has been growing steadily thanks to the contribution made by our team in Australia. We are proud to have been appointed to some exceptional projects on the East Coast and the opening of this additional centre provides the perfect platform to continue supporting our fantastic client base at a local level."
