Granite wins $128m Californian highway project

29 Jul 16 Granite Construction has won a contract to carry out realignment of California State Route 99 in Fresno.

It will serve as construction manager/general contractor (CM/GC) on the US$128m (£97m) contract for the California Department of Transportation.

The scope of work includes construction of a reconfigured interchange, overhead structures and infrastructure to accommodate the high-speed rail system between the existing freeway and the Union Pacific Railroad. Local streets will also be re-routed and utilities will be relocated as part of the project.

The work follows an initial US$28 early works contract that began construction in December 2015.

Funding for the scheme is provided by the California High Speed Rail Authority. Work is scheduled to be complete by September 2018.
