Hants demolition firm buys skip business

11 Jun 15 Hampshire-based demolition contractor R Collard has bought a skip hire business to extend its operations.

R Collard has bought Handy Skips of Bracknell and plans to assimilate the business, assets and goodwill into its existing skip-hire operation.

The acquisition expands R Collard's skip hire business portfolio and increases its geographical scope to include Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead.

It will bring the number of skips managed by R Collard to 1500, ranging in size from four to 40 cubic yard capacity, supported by a 65-vehicle logistics operation.

The company said it believes that investment in skips and skip lorries must be maintained to service its core business of managing demolition waste.  The opportunity to acquire Handy Skips not only provides new plant and equipment but also increases the geographical footprint of that part of the business north east towards London with access to a new client base.

Managing director Robert Collard said: “It is part of our long term strategy to be the major regional skip hire service for the M3/M4 corridor and this addition to our business gives us the expanded trading base we were looking for.”

Wastes generated by R Collard’s demolition and skip hire divisions are processed at four materials recycling centres in Eversley, Aldershot, Bramshill and Farnham.
