Hill gets $78m extension to Oman airport contract

12 Nov 15 Hill International has been awarded a US$78.2m (£51.5m) extension to an existing contract for the expansion of Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport in Oman.

The one-year contract extension from the Ministry of Transport & Communications and the Public Authority for Civil Aviation extends a three-year US$108.5m contract for consulting engineering services awarded to Hill in 2012.

The expansion of Muscat International Airport, the largest airport in Oman, includes a new terminal that will have a capacity of 12 million passengers a year.  The expansion of Salalah Airport, the second largest airport in Oman, involves upgrading it from primarily a domestic airport to make it more suitable for international travellers. Work includes building a new runway long enough to handle the A380 Airbus, and a new terminal that will improve the airport's capacity to one million passengers annually.
