Hillhead visitors up 10%

More than 17,000 visitors were drawn to a quarry near Buxton, Derbyshire to see the 2012 Hillhead plant show.

This was 10% up on the 15,500 that visited the last show in 2010.

Case dealer Warwick Ward claims to have made the largest deal of the show, selling the Case CX370C crawler excavator from the stand, to customer PC Excavations.

The Case Rodeo event, a competition for excavator operators, was won this year by Karl Owen, from Lancashire firm KSO Groundworks. Runners-up  were Peter Bell of Peter Bell HGV & Plant, Jimmy Binks from J Binks & Sons and Richard Christian from Stephen Christian & Sons.

The next Hillhead event is in 2014. Before then will be the first Plantworx show, taking place 14-16 May at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, as a successor to SED, with The Construction Index as official media partner.
