The four star hotel will be built by ISG alongside the new 8,100m2 exhibition centre at Kings Dock, for which ISG was awarded the construction contract in October 2012.
The new steel-frame Exhibition Centre Liverpool building will more than double the amount of exhibition space at the Liverpool Arena & Convention Centre (ACC) to 15,225m2. ACC Liverpool is home to the BT Convention Centre and the Echo Arena.
The hotel, which will be at the north end of the new three-hall exhibition venue, will have 200 bedrooms across six floors.
ISG will construct the hotel and Exhibition Centre Liverpool facilities concurrently, with both buildings set to open for business in 2015. Architects Denton Corker Marshall have created an off-set, rectangular ‘tube’ design for the new concrete frame hotel, which will feature extensive glazing and a double height atrium at its lower levels.
