Across the whole European market and all product lines, Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe (HHIE) sold 3% more machines in 2013 than in 2012 and its market share in classes above eight tonnes rose by more than 30%, it says.

In the UK Hyundai sold a total of 874 machines in 2013, up from 578 in 2012 and growing its market share by 1.2%.

Strongest growth was seen in crawler excavators (14-tonne up to 80.5-tonne), with 522 units sold in the UK in 2013, up from 308 in 2012. This increases its UK market share in this class from 8.3% to 12.7%, Hyundai says

HHIE construction equipment sales director Alain Worp said: “Hyundai is a growing brand all over Europe but especially in the UK. The challenge ahead is to continue this growth path with our existing Hyundai dealers in the UK.”

Hyundai plans to introduce five new machines this year: the R125-9A, R17-9A and R160W-9A excavators and the HL767-9A and HL777-9A loaders.

The new 12-tonne class R125 puts Hyundai back in a class that it has not competed in since the old R110-7 was discontinued several years ago.
