It took first place on the Builders’ Conference BCLive list thanks to five wins, dominated by its £600m contract to build a new hotel at Nine Elms for the Chinese-owned Wanda Dalian group.
Mace also passed the £600m mark thanks to a half-billion-pound housing contract at the former Chelsea Barracks site.
In third place was Kier Group, with £318m of wins, comfortably ahead of fourth-placed Bouygues at £184.1m.
In total, the BCLive league table recorded 642 new contract awards in April with a combined total value of £4.99bn, well behind the £6bn won in March. Statistics suggest that March was a blip while April’s figures represent the industry’s new norm, said Builders’ Conference CEO Neil Edwards. “ This feeling is reinforced by the cumulative year’s total which currently stands at just over £50 billion, equivalent to an average of around £4 billion per month. Whether this momentum can be maintained post-Election, however, remains very much in the lap of the Gods.”
