ISG chosen for £7m Plymouth halls

21 Oct 14 ISG has won a £7m contract to build student accommodation in Plymouth.

The Dairy project sees ISG build 193 student living units on the site of former residential and university buildings in the centre of Plymouth, which were demolished during an earlier phase of the development.

Client is investment management firm BlackRock.

The seven-storey steel frame building will provide student accommodation, configured predominately as clusters with en-suite bedrooms and communal kitchen/living areas. The development includes a small number of studio apartments, along with a retail unit on the ground floor and laundry facilities for use by students. The building design has extensive areas of curtain walling to the elevations, and roof-mounted photo voltaic panels to generate electricity.

ISG’s Western regional managing director, Rob Martin, said: “The constrained and logistically challenging nature of the site plays to our strengths delivering complex city-centre projects and we anticipate strong demand for this purpose-built accommodation on completion next summer.”
