ISG starts Sunderland fire station

19 Sep 14 ISG has begun construction of a new fire station in Sunderland for Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue Service.

The £4.1m project, which has been has been five years in the planning, is ISG’s latest framework win through the North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) construction framework.

The new Marley Park Community Fire Station will replace an outdated fire station in Fulwell, Sunderland. It is scheduled to open in summer 2015.

ISG Construction managing director Alan McCarthy-Wyper said: “The Marley Park Community Fire Station adds to our growing portfolio of blue light projects in the northeast, including a high profile scheme at Bowburn for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and our £22m capital works framework with Cleveland Fire Authority.”

He added: “We are seeing encouraging signs of growth in this key regional market, with the NEPO framework an important factor in bringing projects to site quickly and cost effectively.”
