Italian contractors win €412m of Polish roads contracts

24 Jul 15 Astaldi and Salini Impregilo have won Polish highway contracts worth €242m (£170m) and €170m (£120m) respectively.

Astaldi’s project was one of those included in the €800m of funding awarded to Poland by the EU earlier this week (link opens in new tab).

The contract is for Lot A of the Warsaw’s southern bypass. The works involve the design and construction of approximately 5km expressway with three-lane carriageways in each direction, linking Pulawska junction to Przyczolkowa junction. The scheme includes nine bridges, a 2.3km-long double-tube tunnel, two junctions and all related works. The project has been commissioned by Poland’s General Road & Motorways Authority (GDDKiA) and financed using the EU funding.

Salini Impregilo’s contract is for the design and construction of a 20.27km section of the A1 motorway, south of Warsaw near the city of Katowice. Funding is partly from the EU and partly Polish public funds. The work will last 33 months and includes three junctions and more than 20 structures. The road surfacing will be entirely in concrete.
