Italian team lands €410m Slovakian motorway deal

22 Apr 14 A team led by Salini Impregilo has won a €410m (£337m) contract to build a 13.4km section of motorway in northern Slovakia.

Salini Impregilo has a 75% share of the contract for the Lietavská Lúčka – Višňové – Dubná Skala section of the D1, which was awarded by the Slovakian National Motorway Authority, Národná diaľničná spoločnosť as. The main works to be built include five overpasses for an overall length of 2.5km, as well as a twin-tube tunnel 7.5km in length.

The section of motorway is part of a Trans-European Network route connecting Bratislava with Uzhhorod in Ukraine. It is financed by the Slovakian government and by the European Union through the European Investment Bank.

Work is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year and will continue for roughly five and a half years.
