Kier lands £40m Bristol housing scheme

7 Mar 16 Bristol City Council has appointed Kier Living as its development partner for a £50m housing development in the south of the city.

Development of a 12.7-hectare site at Hengrove Park, off Whitchurch Lane, is part of phase one of the park’s regeneration. Kier Construction has already built the Hengrove Leisure Centre, completed in 2011, while Carillion completed the nearby £45m South Bristol Community Hospital a year later.

Kier Living’s successful bid for the next stage includes a proposal for 259 homes, ranging from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses, with 30% affordable housing.

The scheme is subject to public consultation and planning consent. Designs for the site will be developed over the next few months with a target of April 2016 to submit the scheme for planning permission.

Bristol mayor George Ferguson said: “This development is the first phase of a plan to regenerate Hengrove Park with hundreds more homes and landscaped park that will attract new investment and services to the area.

“The proposals demonstrate Kier’s commitment to working with us, bringing quality and sustainable housing that will boost the credentials of this area of south Bristol as a great place to work and live.”
