Larsen & Toubro lands major rail contract in India

16 Oct 16 A consortium of Larsen & Toubro and Sojitz Corp has won a contract worth 37.99bn rupees (£466m) for a freight rail corridor in India.

The contract with Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India covers civil, track, electrification, signalling and telecoms work under an integrated design and build package.

The scope of work includes construction of 315 track kilometres of railway line, 29 major and 240 minor bridges, a Tunnel, two substations and 321 track kilometres of overhead equipment.

This project is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and is part of a western corridor linking Dadri (near Delhi) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (near Mumbai).
