Lend Lease is delivering nearly 3,000 homes in partnership with Southwark Council across three sites. Work is more than halfway complete at One The Elephant, a 37-storey tower block of 284 new flats, while Trafalgar Place – with 235 flats – is approaching completion.

Following the demolition of the former Heygate Estate, Elephant Park is now starting with the construction of South Gardens.

South Gardens comprises a total of 360 homes with 22 town-houses and eight apartment buildings, which are a mix of mid-rise mansion blocks and a tower, varying from six to 16 stories. The first homes are expected to complete in 2017.

Lend Lease project director Rob Heasman said: β€œThe start of construction on our first phase of Elephant Park is a major landmark for us, as our delivery phase across the scheme gathers real momentum. The number of homes we now have in construction in the Elephant stands at nearly 900, and we are delighted that this has created significant new job and training opportunities for the local community. Across the duration of the development, we aim to create around 5,000 new jobs and are investing time and resources to ensure as many of these as possible go to local people.”
