The Liebherr Group posted turnover of €9,009m in 2016, a decrease of €228m on 2015. Net profit was €298m, slightly up on 2015, thanks in part to beneficial exchange rate fluctuations.

There was a market revival in the company’s home market of Germany but UK sales dipped a little, as they did in the USA also.

Sales revenue from construction machinery and mining equipment (earthmoving, mining, mobile cranes, tower cranes and concrete technology) fell 4.0% to €5,400m. In the other product areas (maritime cranes, aerospace & transportation systems, machine tools and automation systems, domestic appliances, components and hotels) turnover was unchanged at €3,609m.

At the end of the year, Liebherr had 42,308 employees worldwide, an increase of 763 during the year.

Liebherr said that it anticipated an increase in turnover in 2017 and that it would continue to invest in its international production facilities and service network.
