Lovell lined up for £80m King's Lynn housing scheme

21 Oct 14 Lovell has been chosen as preferred bidder for an £80m+ housing development in King's Lynn.

King's Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council is planning to build up to 600 new homes by September 2020 in the Lynnsport and Marsh Lane area. 300 of these homes will be for sale on the open market with 200 earmarked for private rent and a further 100 allocated as affordable housing.

The appointment of Lovell as the preferred bidder remains subject to final approval by full council on 30th October. If approved, initial works on site could begin almost immediately, with work on the first phase of housing due to start in October 2015.

Cllr Alistair Beales, cabinet member for regeneration, said: "This is a major project for the area. We are working in partnership with Norfolk County Council and the Internal Drainage Board to bring forward a new access road and improved drainage which is all part of this exciting development. It will help provide much needed accommodation in the town as well as helping to stimulate local economic activity both directly and indirectly. We also hope that it will help create jobs and encourage apprenticeships."

Lovell regional director Tony Tann said: “We’re extremely proud that Lovell is set to be appointed as preferred bidder for this important development which will deliver significant benefits locally. Alongside new housing for sale, for private rent and affordable homes, it will also bring new community facilities and infrastructure, as well as jobs and training places – including apprenticeships – for local people.”
