The new arrivals join a growing fleet of more than 50 excavators ranging from six to 22 tonnes in operating weight – and half of them are Volvo.

“We’ve continued to expand our plant fleet with Volvo machines based on their good quality, reliability and operator acceptance,” said managing director Mike Mayock. “This time around, we opted for the latest E-versions of the EC140 which we use as all-rounders on site – not just for digging foundations, but lifting blocks and handling all manner of building materials. The EC180E was specifically chosen to give greater lifting capacity when handling drag-box trench supports and more dig depth and reach for laying sewer pipes.”

Established nine years ago in Chandlers Ford, Mackoy Ltd specialises in providing groundworks and civil engineering services including sewer and drainage installation, site enabling, roads driveways and access and foundation work for major house builders. Clients include Bellway Homes, Barratt Homes, Cala Homes, Linden and Persimmon Homes across Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, Wiltshire and Berkshire.
