One of the country’s few 1100-tonne rated cranes was used to install the beams – each 41m long – above the railway line at Stanton Cross in Wellingborough.

“We are delighted that the bridge installation was a success this weekend and I would like to thank the team for their hard work,” said Paul Soutar, Bovis Homes operations director responsible for Stanton Cross. “The railway bridge installation is an important milestone for the project and we are all now looking forward to taking the next important steps in the progression of Stanton Cross."

Stanton Cross is promoted by Bovis Homes and involves the development of 3,650 homes, employment areas and shopping facilities. It is planned for land to the east of Wellingborough’s train station. Other stakeholders include Wellingborough Borough Council, Network Rail, Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, Northamptonshire County Council and East Midlands Trains.

The rail bridge is located to the north of Wellingborough train station. It is an integral part of the first major road route into Stanton Cross, Route 4. Route 4 will run across the railway and through a new town and country park into the new development.
