BRE Global, the certification arm of the Building Research Establishment, has verified Marshalls against its new ethical labour sourcing (ELS) standard.
The ELS standard provides organisations with a way of demonstrating compliance with the Modern Slavery Act and of improving their ethical labour sourcing practices.
Marshalls marketing director Chris Harrop, who has led the company’s supply chain improvement drive, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have not only achieved BRE Global’s ELS standard but also to be the first to do so. This is a prestigious external validation of our ongoing commitment to ethical labour standards and our day-to-day actions on the ground in pursuit of this.”
