The site is opposite the Barbican residential area and the client is Mercer Real Estate.

Designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, the redevelopment will provide 266,000 sq ft of office space, including an extra floor. It will free up roof space for additional terraces, replacing the existing façade to give the building a new look, updating the building’s atrium and main entrance and reconfiguring the floor space.

McLaren began works on site in October and has 85 weeks to complete.  The project is scheduled to finish in August 2017.

McLaren Construction regional managing director Steve Hart said: ‘’This is the first contract McLaren has secured with Mercer Real Estate and to have won this job is a testament to our growing reputation and track record in the London commercial sphere. 160 Aldersgate is an exciting project which will create prime commercial office space within the City of London.’’
