McMullen will clad two residential towers at 10 Park Drive in Canary Wharf’s New District. The buildings have been designed by Stanton Williams Architects and will be delivered by John Robertson Architects. Standing at 14 and 42 storeys, both towers will have ground floor retail space.

McMullen Facades’ contract includes the design, manufacture and installation of the facades for both buildings, with the main body of unitised facade work featuring an innovative system that is being developed in collaboration with Hueck. Scope of works also includes the delivery of the scheme’s cladding package, aluminium swing doors, lift and slide doors, window systems, structural glass balustrades, aluminium soffits and aluminium privacy screens between apartments.

McMullen said that the contract has benefited from its early engagement, enabling its design team to work with with the project’s façade consultant FM+DC  to ensure that the bespoke façade solution adheres to their specific requirements as well as the overall architectural concept. Laboratory testing to Centre for Window & Cladding Technology (CWCT) standard test methods is programmed for the end of July.

Canary Wharf Contractors has also signed a contract to install 519 prefabricated service cupboards in the same buildings with SES Engineering Services. These are made at SES’s Prism factory. The service cupboards house a heat interface unit, a heat recovery unit, cooling interface unit, underfloor heating manifolds, BT Home Hub and space for a washing machine.

The façade elements, including the unitised panels, sliding doors and vents, will be manufactured at McMullen’s recently expanded factory in Portadown and McMullen is expected to commence work on site in New District in October.

McMullen’s’ appointment follows its delivery of the glazing and cladding package to the new Crossrail station at Canary Wharf.

Elsewhere in London McMullen Facades is on site delivering the full vertical envelope to two high-rises at Elephant & Castle – the 41-storey Two Fifty One scheme and The Highwood, a 31-storey block of flats in Elephant Park.
