The package comprises a pair of 38-tonne Volvo EC380E excavators along with five of the 22-tonne EC220 and two 14-tonne EC140s.

The order was awarded following a competitive tender process and from operating the EC380s for a few years.

“We’ve been running the Volvo 36-tonne-plus sized excavators since 2010,” said plant manager Bill Paterson. “On the whole we’ve been very pleased with them and the after-market support we receive from Volvo’s support centre in Stirling has been equally acceptable, so as we were in the market to replace some of the older EC360’s and needed to replace some smaller competitive makes in the fleet, we decided to opt for their EC140E and EC20E models as well,” he continues.
