The Science Centre at Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge campus, will be a new 7,906 m2 facility, which brings together teaching, postgraduate and staff amenities for the various departments within the Faculty of Science & Technology.

It will include a 300-seat lecture theatre and a 200-seat ‘super-laboratory’ as well as offices and seminar rooms.

Faculty dean Eamon Strain said: “The demand for our courses in science and technology has grown significantly over recent years, and this new Science Centre will allow us to meet this need, providing truly world-class teaching and research facilities for our students and staff.  We’re delighted that Morgan Sindall will help to deliver this exciting new project.”

The new building will replace the Bryant and Mellish Clark buildings. Its red brick exterior will complement the academic buildings that make up the rest of the university campus.

The building will be aiming to achieve a BREEAM rating of very good. Photovoltaic panels will cover 200 m2 of the roof space.

Morgan Sindall area director Bob Ensch said: “This new building will provide the university with a centre that offers first-class laboratory and teaching space all under one roof, helping to aid knowledge sharing and collaboration between departments and boosting the department’s research capabilities. “

Morgan Sindall is also on site at two projects for the University of Cambridge nearby – the £8.8m Department of Engineering building and the £40.8m Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology facility.
