Morgan Sindall picked for Dundee footbridge

18 Feb 14 Morgan Sindall has been selected to design and build a new £3.5m footbridge in Dundee.

The Seabraes bridge will take pedestrians and cyclists over the railway tracks between Dundee’s waterfront and one of its main streets.

The project is set to be signed off by city councillors at a meeting next Monday (February 24).

Will Dawson, convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee, said: “I am sure that the stunning design and strategic location of the new bridge will soon make it a city landmark.

“Thanks to the new bridge pedestrians and cyclists will get easy access from one of the main arteries of Dundee to the heart of the waterfront.”

Money for the contract is coming from the Vacant & Derelict Land Fund, Scottish Enterprise, Cycling Walking and Safer Streets, the developer of the Riverside Flats and Dundee City Council.

The project already has planning permission. Construction is expected to start on site in autumn with a completion date of spring 2015.
