Morgan Sindall wins £450m Southampton waterfront scheme

3 Mar 14 Southampton City Council has selected Morgan Sindall as its development partner for a £450m urban regeneration scheme.

Morgan Sindall Investments Ltd (MSIL), the investment unit of construction and regeneration group, Morgan Sindall Group, has been named preferred developer for the Royal Pier Waterfront project.

MSIL will partner with Southampton City Council, The Crown Estate and Associated British Ports (ABP), who jointly own the 60-acre site.

The Royal Pier Waterfront is part of Southampton’s Renaissance Vision, which is to be driven by Southampton’s master plan to turn Southampton into a city comparable with the best in Europe.

“We are delighted to have been selected as preferred developer for this major waterfront scheme, which is an exciting and vibrant development for the city,” said MSIL executive chairman Ernie Battey. “This mixed-use development has the potential to position Southampton at the forefront of world-class waterfront schemes and MSIL has the experience, knowledge and financial stability that will be crucial to its successful delivery.”

The development is expected to begin in 2015 and take place in five phases.
