Multiplex picked for $206m Australian university expansion

11 Oct 16 Multiplex has won a AU$206m (£126m) contract for a expansion work at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

The project is for a teaching building that also includes a large underground carpark and a regional transport interchange.

The multi-story 30,000 square metre facility is a cornerstone project in Monash’s ambition for the next half century, said Multiplex regional managing director for Victoria, Graham Cottam. “Monash University is already ranked within the top one per cent of global universities and fittingly the brief by architect John Wardle is both challenging and visionary,” he said.

“We are delighted to partner with Monash University to be part of a revolutionary vision for higher education where innovative learning spaces are realised through a series of light-filled atria, indoor and outdoor landscapes.”

Multiplex also recently completed Monash University’s AU$145m student accommodation precinct, comprising four new residential buildings providing a combined total of more than 1,000 studio apartments, with associated retail and informal learning spaces.
