New Bobcats join Westgate Plant fleet

21 Aug 13 Margate-based Westgate Plant (Hire & Sales) has expanded with the purchase of its first two Bobcat compact excavators.

Westgate bought the machines from its local authorised dealer, Bobcat of London. The two machines are a Bobcat E10 1.1t micro-excavator and a Bobcat E16 1.6t compact excavator, together with a new Model 10 auger attachment for use on the E16.

Company owner, Peter Welsh, who runs the business with his son, Jack, said: “Bobcat of London provided us with a couple of machines to try out and I was immediately impressed with the quality of build and well thought out design of the Bobcat excavators.  From the thickness of the back door which provides good protection for the engine and other components to the standard track expansion on both models for extra stability, the Bobcat excavators offer an excellent design for the hire industry.”

Westgate Plant has been in business for 25 years and has been offering excavators for hire since 1990.

The Bobcat E10 model is a zero tail swing micro-excavator with a maximum digging depth of 1.82m and a machine weight of 1,066kg.  The machine has a retractable undercarriage that takes the width down to only 710mm, allowing easy access through a standard pedestrian doorway for work inside buildings or entry gardens through narrow gates.

The E16 also has a retractable undercarriage as standard. It has an operating weight of 1,555kg when equipped with canopy, bucket and long dipperstick. It offers a maximum digging depth of 2.6m.
