Peter Andrew was previously UK land and planning director at house-builder Taylor Wimpey. He was also one of the four people who drafted the national planning policy framework for then planning minister Greg Clarke.

He will work three days a week for HBF in an executive capacity.

HBF executive chairman Stewart Baseley said: “I am delighted that Peter will be joining us as deputy chairman. With housing at the very top of the political agenda, HBF is heavily involved working on members’ behalf to help influence and develop government policy. Peter’s experience at a very senior level within then industry and also of working with government to develop policy will supplement and enhance HBF’s existing management team. Peter will work with me and the team to shape HBFs work moving forward at this critical time for housing policy.”

Peter Andrew said: “Increasing the number of new homes being built is now a key priority for the government and the country in general. HBF has a key role to play in both shaping our industry and working with government to deliver much-needed new homes. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to help create a better environment within which our industry can succeed and deliver the homes the country needs.”
