Ocon completes London student living scheme

Ocon Construction has completed its 74-unit student accommodation scheme on London’s Fulham Palace Road ready for tenants to move in for the start of the new academic year.

Designed by Pascal + Watson for developer BHE Property Developments Ltd, the project involved construction of a four storey residential block with ground floor retail accommodation and three storeys of studio apartments. The timber framed build is located on a tight infill site, formerly occupied by a derelict filling station, and provides an excellent location for student accommodation on one of the main arterial routes into London.

The 11-month programme earned Ocon a ‘Performance Beyond Compliance’ certificate from the Considerate Constructors scheme, rewarding the company for its achievements in managing a tight programme on a busy high street site in a residential area.

Rory Gleeson from BHE Property Developments said, “To have delivered this building, on a very tight site on one of west London’s busiest roads, on programme, within 47 weeks, is a very significant achievement, and one which the entire Ocon team should be rightly proud of. We look forward to a continued relationship in the future between ourselves and Ocon.”
