Order book boost for Lakesmere

4 Nov 15 Lakesmere has won a contract to provide a complex cladding, roofing and glazing package for a new 10-storey student accommodation scheme for Vita Student.

The contract is among more than £10m of new work picked up in the education sector by Lakesmere Group's northern operation in recent weeks.

The new student residence scheme is in Partick, Glasgow.  Lakesmere is working for main contractor Carillion and client Select Property Group. Lakesmere will design and install the rainscreen cladding and curtain walling, aluminium and hot-melt roofing for the development designed by local architect ADF.

Lakesmere will be completing work to both the multi-storey accommodation block and the retail unit located at ground level, with the team expected to be on site in January 2016.

Lakesmere North will also be playing a key role in the construction of the University of Edinburgh’s new Roslin Innovation Centre, part of the Easter Bush Campus development, for main contractor McLaughlin & Harvey. This facility will provide laboratories and offices to accommodate the International Centre for Livestock Improvement and the Midlothian Science Outreach Centre. Lakesmere starts on site in February 2016. It is designing and installing the centre’s natural stone rainscreen cladding and living wall rainscreen with a glass skin and zinc shingles that will be embossed with a leaf pattern.

Meanwhile, at Forfar Community Campus in Angus, Lakesmere is making progress on a flat roofing contract for Robertson Construction and architect JM Architects. Lakesmere’s scope of works includes the design and installation of the aluminium standing seam roofing and parapet cappings for the campus’ new teaching block and sports wing, along with the roof of the plant room that connects the two separate blocks.

Outside of Scotland, Lakesmere has secured a contract to deliver various roofing and cladding works to Sunderland College’s new £29m Holmeside Vocational Campus building, for BAM Construction and Redbox Design Group Architects. Lakesmere North will design and install a varied package that includes 5600m2 of membrane roofing, ACM rainscreen cladding and anodised aluminium shingles to create a diamond pattern façade.
