Oslo awards contract for new sports arena

28 Oct 16 The city of Oslo is commissioning NCC to build the Nye Jordal Amfi sports arena in Oslo, Norway.

The SEK445m (£40.6m) contract for the Municipal Undertaking for Culture & Sports Facilities involves building a replacement for a stadium originally built for the Olympic Games in 1952.

“We are very pleased to have been awarded the contract to construct a new sports arena in the City of Oslo, and we are looking forward to starting the project,” says Marianne Brudevold Eek, head of department, NCC Civil Engineering, Infrastructure in Norway. The construction site will be CO2 neutral during the execution of the project. “At NCC, we have made substantial progress in the ‘green shift’ and can offer private and public developers a number of sustainable solutions and certifications,” she said.

Nye Jordal Amfi will be an ice hockey arena for elite and recreational sports and will also feature restaurants, cafes and conference facilities.
