Potential subcontractors invited to Fehmarnbelt meetings

21 Feb 14 A series of open meetings is being held in Denmark to advise potential subcontractors of opportunities related to the €5.5bn (£4.4bn) Fehmarnbelt tunnel.

The meetings held by the project’s promotor Femern will give companies the opportunity to hear what specific tasks they can address should they want to become a supplier to the construction of the world's largest immersed tunnel.

Nine international consortia are already in the process of preparing tenders for the tunnel linking Germany and Denmark under the Fehmarnbelt and the consortia have the coming months to make contact with subcontractors.

Femern has produced a guide that sets out specific tasks that may be suitable for subcontractors on the tunnel construction. The guide provides small and medium-sized enterprises with an overview of their opportunities, and direct contact information for the international construction consortia.

During March and April 2014, Femern and Femern Belt Development together with the Confederation of Danish Industry’s local branches are organising a total of five information sessions throughout Denmark and similar meetings are planned for Lübeck and Flensburg. The first meeting will take place on 11 March in Aalborg.
