Race starts for £120m Yorkshire schools batch

17 Feb 14 The contest has begun for the next batch of work in the Department for Education’s Priority School Building Programme.

Batch 4, in Yorkshire, comprises seven secondary school construction projects and has an estimated total value of between £80m and £120m.

The design and build contract is being procured using the private finance (PF2) model. The two-year construction phase will be followed by a 25-year maintenance period.

The total Priority School Building Programme will see 261 schools rebuilt or refurbished.

The seven schools involved in this fourth batch are:

  • All Saints Catholic College, Huddersfield
  • Belle Vue Boys' School, Bradford
  • Carlton Bolling College, Bradford
  • Harrogate High School, Harrogate
  • Oakbank School, Keighley
  • Samuel Lister Academy, Bradford
  • Whitcliffe Mount Business & Enterprise College, Huddersfield.

Some, such as these, are being privately financed; others are getting conventional state funding from the outset.

Request to tender should be submitted to the Education Funding Agency by 17th March 2014.
