Rebuild starts of washed-away Queensland causeway

19 Apr 17 Construction work is getting under way this week to rebuild the John Muntz Causeway in the Australian state of Queensland.

Contractor Golding has been appointed to repair the Tamborine-Oxenford Road and replace the embankment, which washed away in floodwaters on 31 March.

The work is due for completion in the middle of this year, weather permitting. Asphalt will be used on the road surface as a temporary measure to get the road reopened. After the new embankment and road has settled, crews will return later in the year to replace the asphalt with concrete.
