Redesign for rail grab

8 Nov 16 Engcon has redesigned the GR20RR railway grab that it introduced in 2012 for handling sleepers and rails and renamed it the GR20R2.

The grab arms on the GR20R2 have been made sturdier, using high-strength steel with a hardness of 400 Brinell for maximum service life. Supporting bosses have been added for more stable control of the load and the grab cylinders have thicker walls to handle higher hydraulic pressures.

"The upgrades are in response to our customers' views and requests," said Engcon R&D chief Fredrik Jonsson.

To make grabbing and handling objects easier, grabs will now be angled downwards up to 42 degrees.

The GR20R2 is suitable for use with Engcon's Q-Safe quick hitch and can therefore also be fitted with EC-Oil for automatic connection of hydraulic tools such as ballast tampers, sleeper layers, timber grabs and compactors etc.
