Riwal, already active in the UK access machine hire market, now wants to train more people how to use them properly. It has acquired ALS Safety Ltd, a UK based provider of working at height training.

ALS Safety provides courses certified by IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) and PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association) from five centres around the UK, as well as general health & safety training.

ALS Safety will continue with its name and branding and the ALS Safety staff will be employed by Riwal. The Riwal UK management team will be involved in the day to day management of ALS Safety.

Riwal CEO Norty Turner said: “At Riwal our business is founded upon safety. It is an absolute critical element in everything we do. ALS Safety is a good strategic fit to our business and will support our growth ambitions in the UK as it will enable us to provide a broader range of training to our customers and in more training facilities. In addition we will bring our rental solutions to ALS Safety’s customer base.”

ALS Safety managing director Darren Verschuren added: “We have gained a solid reputation in the industry and as part of the Riwal Group we will be able to further grow our service offering to a new customer base and into new geographical areas.”
