Robertson seeks subbies for Dundee school

27 Mar 13 Main contractor Robertson is seeking local subcontractors and suppliers to support its £29m contract to build the new Harris Academy in Dundee.

The school is the first project to be delivered in Dundee by the Hub East Central Scotland Company.

The existing school will be demolished and a new 15,000sqm building erected in its place. The school is being delivered as part of a £500m construction programme across Tayside, Fife and Forth Valley.

Robertson is holding a Meet the Buyer event tomorrow (Thursday 28 March) to give local subcontractors the chance to join the supply chain and win some of the work packages available during the three-year project.

Malcolm MacLeod, hub director for Robertson, said: “Our Meet the Buyer event is a chance for local subcontractors and tradespeople to meet the project team and find out how they might get involved in the construction of the new Harris Academy, which will provide a sustainable, state-of-the-art school for local pupils.”

Demolition of the existing building is scheduled to begin in the autumn once the school has been decanted from the premises. Construction will complete in June 2016, and the school should be fully operational for the start of the 2016 school term.

The Robertson Meet the Buyer event will be held on 28 March 2012, from 10am-4pm at Queen’s Hotel, 160 Nethergate, Dundee, DD1 4DU. To register interest, contact Ian Hill at Robertson (i.hill@robertson.co.uk).
