Rotherham expands Morrison workload

20 Dec 12 Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has signed up Morrison to provide responsive repairs and maintenance services to its public buildings across the borough.

The new contract starts in February and runs for up to four years. The estimated value is £1.5m a year, of £6m for the full term

Morrison will provide general buildings maintenance and repairs, electrical works, glazing, plumbing and the maintenance and servicing of gas heating to 354 public buildings, including cemeteries, community centres, children centres, depots, libraries and office buildings.

Since 2010, Morrison has already provided responsive repairs and empty property works to 10,500 properties in Rotherham North, Rotherham South and Wentworth North as well as aids & adaptations and planned works to 21,000 homes across the borough.

Councillor Gerald Smith, cabinet member for regeneration and development, said: “The company has already demonstrated its capability and commitment to customer service through the social housing repairs and maintenance contract and we look forward to building upon the strong relationship forged over the last couple of years, extending into this new area of work.”
