Scape clinches gold at national procurement ‘Oscars’

16 Mar 12 Scape has been honoured for outstanding achievement at this year’s National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards.

The organisation was crowned the winner in the GO / John F McClelland Collaborative Procurement Initiative of the Year – Non-Health Organisations category at the National GO Awards 2012/13 event.

The local authority controlled company that’s at the forefront of delivering cost and time savings to public sector construction projects across the UK, was recognised for its collaborative approach to public sector construction projects. The judges were impressed with Scape’s demonstration of a strong and sustained track record of success in a difficult to manage sector.

Accepting the Award, Scape CEO Mark Robinson said: “These awards are like the Oscars of the procurement world, so I’m absolutely delighted we have clinched this title! Scape is playing a vital role in these times of austerity in making it easier for the UK public sector to drive down their building procurement costs. I’d like to thank everyone involved with Scape for all their hard work, and for supporting our vision to transform the procurement landscape in which we operate.”

Scape was one of only eight finalists selected from a record number of overall submissions in their chosen category. Mark and members of the team were presented with their award at a prestigious event on 13th March 2012 at the NEC in Birmingham.

Organised by procurement specialists BiP Solutions, the National GO Awards are the only awards dedicated to public procurement in the UK. Winners were announced at a ceremony held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on the evening of the first day of the Procurex National 2012 exhibition.

Grahame Steed, Managing Editor of Awards sponsor Government Opportunities (GO), said: “Once again the National GO Awards have set the standard for public procurement across the country. In difficult times, it is clear to see that buyers and suppliers are rising to the challenge of delivering better services for less, and the GO Awards are the perfect way of sharing and showcasing some of the best initiatives from the past year. Every finalist had a compelling story to tell and those that have gone on to further success in the Awards deserve all the recognition they get.”

The National Government Opportunities Excellence in Public Procurement Awards were established in 2002.
