Seddon completes £8m Oxfordshire care home for Sanctuary Group

8 Dec 11 Seddon Construction has completed building a new, state-of-the-art £8 million care home in Kidlington, near Oxford, for leading housing and care provider Sanctuary Group.

The Yarnton Residential and Nursing Home has 60 en suite bedrooms and is managed by Sanctuary Care. It provides residents with support including nursing, palliative, specialist dementia and residential care as well as reablement services, designed to help residents regain independent living skills following a hospital stay.

The 2,600 sq metre two-storey building was completed on time by Seddon following a 16-month build programme. Among its features are four communal lounges, four restaurant areas, a hair salon and an extensive garden including a sensory garden.

 Care Quality Commission approval

“Drawing on our strong social care expertise, our team has worked closely with Sanctuary Group to create this welcoming and well-equipped, modern care home,” says Seddon business unit manager Grant Millar. “As a result of this close collaboration, the Yarnton facility has become Sanctuary’s first care home to receive Care Quality Commission approval the day after the formal completion of building work – something which would normally take up to four weeks.”

During the construction of the home, Seddon also worked closely with neighbouring William Fletcher Primary School and arranged supervised site visits for pupils.

Seddon Construction is part of the national Seddon Group, a family-owned company specialising in construction, maintenance and housebuilding.
