Sellafield adds final partners to £500m decommissioning team

3 Mar 16 Sellafield has confirmed the final four companies for its £500m framework contract for decommissioning work over the next decade.

Amec Foster Wheeler, Areva, Doosan Babcock and Atkins join the Decommissioning Delivery Partnership (DDP), bringing to 16 the number of companies formally involved in the framework across six alliances and joint ventures.

Amec Foster Wheeler’s inclusion is through an alliance with Hertel (UK) Ltd and Shepley Engineers, both of whom were already in the DDP framework through other partnerships. The joint venture of Areva-Doosan-Atkins brings three new names to the DDP and means that Sellafield Ltd can now confirm that 15 of its 16 DDP framework partners are either based in, or have a significant presence in, Cumbria.

All companies bidding to be involved in the partnership had to outline how they would deliver new skills, community benefits and encourage economic growth by committing to subcontracts with small-to-medium sized enterprises.
