Parent company Shorts Group is a long-standing Volvo customer for its plant and tool hire fleet.
The arrival of a reduced swing radius 25-tonne ECR235E and 30-tonne EC300E, together with the recent appointment of Colin Prendergast as demolition manager, represent an expansionist move by Shorts in the demolition sector.
“The larger Volvo excavators rigged for demolition duties have a good track record and reputation within the industry and as we were looking to replace one machine and add an additional unit to the fleet we decided to opt for these two models,” said Colin Prendergast.
Both machines have heavy-duty belly plates, side impact guarding, FOPS guarding to the cab and guarding to the bucket cylinder. Both machines have been supplied with twin lock quick hitches and additional proportional hydraulic circuits to facilitate grab rotation for attachments such as shears, grapples and pulverisers.
