SIG opens Trafford Park super depot

Building products supplier SIG Distribution has opened a 144,000 square foot distribution branch in Manchester – its biggest trade branch in the UK.

The Trafford Park site, called T1, will be the main hub serving northwest England and north Wales for five SIG brands: SIG Insulation, SIG Construction Accessories, SIG Interiors, SIG Technical Insulation and SIG Fixings.

SIG said that the regional hub would improve customer service as orders would be consolidated for deliveries, reducing the number of vehicle movements at construction sites as well as reducing road miles.  There is also a trade counter for local contractors and tradespeople.

General manager Martin Fearon said: “This is a carefully designed, fit for purpose site with new processes and operations that meet the needs and demands of the 21st century construction sector. This new site will provide a more efficient service to our customers across the northwest and north Wales, due to our location close to all major road networks, while helping to reduce on-site traffic by ensuring all required materials can be delivered in one trip.”
