Skanska to renovate Charlestown auditorium
Skanska has won US$77m (£49m) of work for the renovation of the Gaillard Municipal Auditorium in Charleston, USA.
Skanska will work in a joint venture with Trident Construction and carry out 70% of the work on on the US$110m scheme.
The Gaillard Center project includes the addition of a 1,800 seat multi-purpose auditorium, a 3,600m2 exhibit hall and a new three-story 7,500m2 municipal office building for City employees. According to the city’s mayor, this will be the largest construction project in the city’s history.
The project will begin in August and is slated for completion in December 2014. It will be seeking LEED Silver certification.
