Skanska wins £53m Moorgate office scheme

1 Jun 12 Skanska starts work this month on a £53m contract to design and build a 12-storey office building next to Moorgate station in London.

The speculative Moorgate Exchange project covers an area of 20,400 square meters and includes two roof level plant floors and a two-storey basement.

The client is Telex SARL and Skanska will be providing construction finance for the project assisted by its newly formed UK project development group.

Skanska is aiming for BREEAM Excellent and LEED Platinum ratings for the new building.

Completion is scheduled for January 2014.

Paul Heather, managing director of Skanska’s Building – London & South East Operating Unit, said: “To be appointed as principal contractor for the construction phase of this development in the heart of the City is a fantastic opportunity and challenge. There is added complexity due to the proximity of Moorgate Station and we will work closely with London Underground and Crossrail to address this.”
