Skanska wins Swedish rail project

17 Mar 16 Skanska has won a SEK400m (£34m) contract for the Mälarbanan rail expansion project between Spånga and Barkarby, north of Stockholm.

The project for the Swedish Transport Administration involves expanding a 3km section from two to four tracks and building a new platform. Commuter trains will have two separate tracks, while other trains will pass freely on the two outer tracks.

Preparatory work is due to begin this summer and the project is expected to be fully completed during 2019.

The expansion will employ approximately 65 people at Skanska, including eight new employees.
