19 Sep 14 Specialist fit-out contractors are being sought for a four-year programme of works in more than 200 supermarkets across the UK.

Building services contractor CBES, a subsidiary City Refrigeration Holdings Group, has won a framework contract with the Co-operative to overhaul its stores.

CBES also works for Sainsbury’s and Asda.

It has put out the call for subcontractors to help it carry out the work, with trade including:

It is holding a ‘supplier engagement’ event in Oxford next week, under the auspices of Constructionline, the government’s tendering database firm. The event, which is free to attend, offers potential suppliers the opportunity to learn more about working on the programme.

It takes place next week on Thursday 25th September, 9am to 12 noon, at the Kassam Stadium, Grenoble Road, Oxford, OX4 4XP.

Earlier this month the Co-operative announced plans to open more than 100 new stores in 2014 and 150 in subsequent years, between 2,000 sq ft and 4,000 sq ft net sales area, particularly in high street and local community locations. It has appointed former Mace project manager Jason McEwen to the newly created role of head of portfolio, programmes and project delivery with responsibility for all construction, refurbishment and retrofit projects across the group’s estate.
