Sypro software for Fife construction jobs

28 Feb 13 Fife Council has selected Sypro’s web-based project management software for the £10m rebuild of the sea wall at Kirkcaldy on the east coast of Scotland between Edinburgh and Dundee.

The aim of the project is to prevent flooding as well as to improve access to the beach and upgrade the promenade.

On the back of the deal, Sypro has won a second contract with Fife Council to help build a park-and-ride scheme at Halbeath, which will serve Edinburgh commuters using the new Forth crossing.

The main contractor on the Kirkcaldy sea wall is Volker Stevin.  The Halbeth park-and-ride main contractor is Robertson Group.

The Sypro system has previously been used to project manage the £840m Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, which is the largest healthcare building in Europe.

Sypro managing director Simon Hunt of, said: “Predominantly, the work we have done in Scotland has been around health. This is our first opportunity to engage with a large unitary authority and hopefully we will be able to use this to expand into the other 31 councils across Scotland.”
